Hailing from Geneseo NY, Soft Cough is an uncommon garage pop band. Self described as Ghoulcore, they claim their influences as ‘hanging out in haunted houses’. The lyrics do touch on eerie topics, in a tongue in cheek way. When combined with Soft Cough’s upbeat, poppy sound it creates a unique mixture. Their style makes you want to hangout in your garage with the door open, splitting a six pack among friends. It’s a feel good summer album, as long as you don’t mind songs about faces melting off. I also did’t realize telling someone they looked like Joey Ramone was so insulting until the last song.
